THEATRE

Circus Maximus is an association established in 1998 and based in Helsinki.
The core purpose of the association is to promote and develop the art of theatre, dance and performance in Finland.
The association runs the Circus Maximus Theatre, produces performances and aims at operating widely in the field
of all performing art. As far as possible, the association also strives to promote projects in which different art forms
cooperate and projects that go beyond the limits of performing art. The focus of the performances is in new texts and

dramatizations, Finnish premieres and altogether in being courageous and creative and offering a new point of view.

STARTING YEAR

1998

AUDITORIUM / VENUE

Circus Maximus works in cooperation with other theatres and theatre companies. The association does not have
its own work space or auditorium: such is organized when needed for a production. Circus Maximus exists in time

rather than in space!

STAFF

The members of the association are professionals of different art forms: the staff includes directors, dramatists,

actors, scenographers, light and sound designers, musicians, graphic designers and visual artists.

A board selected by the members is responsible for the theatre’s work and artistic ideas.
