THEATRE

Klockriketeatern offers an alternative theatre experience in Finland: experimental theatre speaking in terms of both the form and the content, soup theatre, discussion socials and guests: interesting encounters for both the audience and the artists.

• free theatre, whose home stage is right in the centre of Helsinki
• the venue for encounters between the audience and the artists
• experimental theatre
• soup theatre & guest performances & tours
• in the Art & ethics -series: reading dramas, discussions, seminars – CONVERSATION!

The Nobel prize winning author Harry Martinson's novel The Road ("Vägen till Klockrike") as dramatized and directed by Kristin Olsonin (1991) marked the beginning of the theatre. Klockriketeatern registered association was founded in 1994. Harry Martison received the Nobel prize for his book which ”captures a drop of the morning dew and reflects the cosmos”. Not a bad motto for an artistic theatre today.

Klockriketeatern has often done performances of new drama and been characterized for its Nordic repertoire and put a lot of effort into getting international contacts, also by importing performances to its home stage in Erottajankatu 7. Developing and deepening the expression of the actors as well as making use of the possibilities of our home stage are the cornerstones of our work. We also perform on tours both in Finland and abroad (lately in Russia, Sweden and Estonia), and our repertoire regularly includes guest performances of visiting companies (from Finland, Estonia, Russia, Sweden, Norway…)
